Pendeen/Boscaswell Village...

Crowns Sunset

Pendeen lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) ... it sits on the coastal edge of the Ancient Moors of Penwith... an erstwhile mining community.

A visit to the Geevor Tin Mine Museum complex is a must... it connects you to this area's unique past and its heritage.

The ancient Tin Mine Engine Houses, standing stark against the backdrop of the Atlantic, provide a landmark as you drive over the moors from Penzance on the south coast towards the village. Here many of the cottages and some more substantial dwellings give testament to the past importance of mining. Just outside the village the road meets the B3306, aptly recognised as one of the most beautiful drives in the country ... leading from the picture-postcard seaside resort of St. Ives through the village and onto its final destination, Land's End.

The village boasts two pubs, each serving hearty food and local beers, as well as a very well stocked store next to a chip shop and even a post office still remains.

A welcome newcomer to the village is making a great success of providing home-baking in her imaginatively refurbished property right on the main road, attracting custom from passing visitors, who then hopefully explore their "stop" further.

Portheras Cove Portheras Cove

A Farmers Market is held twice monthly on the 1st and 2nd Saturday providing fish in season and local produce.

The village gives its name to Pendeen Lighthouse which is set on the cliff-edge, a mile from the village.
